Outputs & Activities

Provide Overall Directions for Product Development Teams

  • Provide leadership, goal-setting, communications, and facilitation skills to guide and motivate project personnel.
  • Manage external contractors and vendors to ensure completion of projects per the agreed upon milestones and within budget.
  • Responsible for tracking, monitoring and managing direct report project and work hours.
  • Manage the project and identify changes per the quote/contract; all identified changes must be communicated and resolved.
  • Identify and manage resolution of potential deviations from the quote/contract, Project Master Plan or other project documents.
  • Perform and manage project risk relative to the client and MedVenture.
  • Identify and recommend appropriate resource allocations from all areas to support the project requirements and monitor their utilization/efficiency.
  • Manage internal billing activities for clients. Communicate project progress and updates to clients and MedVenture management.
  • Communicate with clients on a regular basis (as required) and provide monthly updates to MedVenture Management.
  • Ensure client issues/deviations are resolved and documented in a timely manner.
  • Document project and team meetings minutes and distribute to appropriate management.
  • Communicate variances in project budgets, plans and schedules with clients, Business Development and Management. Negotiate necessary changes with clients. Support new business opportunities
  • Assist Business Development to evaluate new business opportunities.
  • Coordinate/develop quotes and work with Business Development to close deals.
  • Support contract development for product development and manufacturing projects.
  • Assist/Coordinate with Business Development negotiation on project variances.

Financial Management

  • Track and manage project budget to plan
  • Identify and improve processes to reduce costs

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Coach and mentor Product Development Staff
  • Assist employees to establish goals and career planning.
  • Effectively manage employees to achieve business results.
  • Recommend appropriate training and skill development to product development staff as needed.
  • Ensure team personnel are trained appropriately to support activities.

Other Duties as Requested

  • Provide leadership and direction for product development process improvements.
  • Perform quarterly reviews of direct reports

Level of Activity

Level of Supervision

  • Project Manager Support: Is a mentoree and a higher level role will provide direction and review their work.
  • Program Manager Lead: Is a mentor, all activities are performed without supervision.
  • Senior Program Manager Lead/Consult: Is a mentor, all activities are performed without supervision.

Support

Provide support of an output or activity to a higher level role

  • Lead:  lead an output or activity, may have support of a lower level role
  • Consult: provide guidance to a lower level role

Requirements

Job Experience & Education

  • Four year engineering degree, BSME or BSBME preferred. Relevant experience in lieu of a degree shall be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • MBA degree or the educational equivalent preferred
  • Technical product development experience, e.g. design, process, or quality engineering
  • Working knowledge of both FDA and CE design controls
  • Working knowledge of Critical Chain Project Management (CCPW) preferred.

Job Experience

Level of Experience

  • Project Manager: 4-6 years; Technical product development role or equivalent job experience in the medical device industry
  • Program Manager: 6-10 years; Experienced in all job requirements within the medical device industry
  • Senior Program Manager: 11+ years; Experienced in all job requirements within the medical device industry

Physical Demands

  • Must perform light lifting
  • Working in a controlled environment fully gowned
  • Periodic traveling
  • Ability to work extended hours as necessary
